And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him…   Revelation 6:2

My friends, Jesus is coming back!  Will you ride with Him when He does?

Trailhead Ministries

Trailhead Ministries was created by David and Nancy Herbert to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through leading cowboy church at horse camps around the South. We would love to lead worship at your next trail ride.

David Herbert

A Mississippi cowboy since the age of two, I rode behind my mom or dad until I was old enough to ride my own pony. Horse riding and weekend horse shows were my family’s way of life. As a young adult I began to feel there was  more to life than what I was experiencing. Maybe there was more to life than riding horses.  I started attending church. Later I was saved during a revival, I told God that if he wanted my life, if he could use this cowboy, then He could have it!  It was the best decision I ever made.

I became a youth leader and later felt God’s call into the ministry, a calling I tried to run from. Being a preacher was not in my plans,  but God would not  give up and  I surrendered to the call asking God to always give me the words to say.  He has never failed to supply me with those words, His words!  Sunday services and revivals led to a position as pastor of a local church. During that time, I learned so much. Most importantly I learned that being a pastor was so much more than preaching, it is about having compassion for my fellow man. God used that as training ground for what was about to come and that was prison ministry.

I  stopped horse training and weekend horse shows. My horse was traded  for a Harley! Our “iron horse” prison ministry  preached God’s word in Mississippi and Florida prisons.  I saw so many give their lives to Christ - witnessing one on one to death row inmates, preaching in the spiritual life center on the prison campus and smaller services in some of the prison units.

Seasons change, I sold the Harley, bought another horse, and discovered trail riding!  Being surrounded my nature, by God’s beautiful creation, brings me to a higher level of thankfulness for all God has done for me and a richer, closer relationship with Jesus Christ!  He is Lord of All, the Almighty King and worthy of all our Praise!!

We would love to lead Sunday morning cowboy church for your trail rides!
